Primarily senior executives in large European companies. EBF is read by many business
school academics and students. In many schools, EBF is recommended reading.
An editorial committee is responsible for the strategic direction of EBF. It meets
at least twice a year to determine and maintain the editorial positioning, policy
and direction of EBF.
Absolutely not. EBF is an independent publication that seeks to publish the highest-quality
content, irrespective of its provenance. EBF will publish papers from academics,
consultants and practising managers.
Yes. “In Depth” is the central section of EBF and it requires contributions based
upon original research and/or analysis. EBF particularly welcomes papers that have
been co-authored by an academic and a management practitioner. EBF also welcomes
literature reviews, research briefs and abstracts of working papers.
The editorial committee has a formal review process and policy, ensuring that all
papers published in the “In Depth” section are double-blind refereed. The referees
may be drawn from the editorial committee or the editorial advisory board. All communication
with an author will be conducted by email.
Yes. Such commissions will usually be based on the quality of previous work by the
author(s). Commissioned papers, however, remain subject to scrutiny by the editorial
committee and the editorial advisory board. A commissioned paper must still meet
EBF’s standards of editorial quality.
Yes. EBF may be interested in short versions of papers that have previously appeared
in specialised journals. Shorter versions will need to have been adapted for EBF’s
management audience.
EBF will make quarterly calls for papers. These will be posted on the EBF website
and in the publication, as well as through the usual channels such as list servers
of academic associations.
There is no fixed length for a contribution to EBF. Quality and relevance are the
critical virtues. For guidance, however, EBF will review manuscripts up to 6,000
words. Submissions should be made electronically to the academic editor (bodo@ebfonline.com),
contributing editor (morgen@carucate.co.uk) or the managing editor (bs1@caspianpublishing.co.uk).
Papers should be accompanied by a brief autobiographical note, including:
- full name
appointment/job title
- name of organisation/institution address
- direct telephone and fax numbers
- email address
The text should be in British English. A list of all sources/references must be
provided at the end of the paper, citing the author and date of publication. It
is a condition of publication that authors vest the copyright in their articles
to Caspian Publishing Ltd. The publishers will thereafter hold the copyright jointly
with CEMS. This enables the publishers to ensure full copyright protection and to
disseminate the article to the widest possible readership. Authors are responsible
for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources in their
paper.
There is a great deal of value. All papers published in the “In Depth” section are
double-blind peer reviewed. Some papers will also be reviewed by a senior management
practitioner. With its clear emphasis on management relevance, EBF is also an important
publication for demonstrating the outreach of a business school faculty. Authors
are able to disseminate their research to a wide, senior-level audience of business
executives. Writers have the chance to speak directly to business professionals
and to show how their work can influence today’s and tomorrow’s managers.
